The All-New 2024 Hyundai Kona – What We Know So Far

Hyundai recently unveiled the design for the new generation of its subcompact SUV, the Hyundai Kona. The Kona took on a futuristic exterior design that not only offers a dynamic road presence, but also a driver-centric interior that offers plenty of space and serves both practical and aesthetic needs.

Here is what we know so far!

Powertrains

The 2024 Hyundai Kona will be offered in 4 different variants: fully electric (all-new!), hybrid (HEV), gas, and a sporty N-Line version. The varieties of engine options Hyundai offer allow drivers to choose the one that best fits their driving needs.

Exterior Design and Dimensions

The all-new Kona has evolved into a larger vehicle that offers more space and a bolder style. To give drivers more living space, the Kona grew to 4,355 mm in length, which is 150 mm longer than the previous generation, based on the EV variant. It also gained 25 mm in width and 60 mm in wheelbase length compared to the outgoing model without losing any of its iconic design identity.

Unlike most vehicles that offer an EV version, the Kona actually started with the EV version, and then the Hybrid, Gas, and N Line versions were adapted off the EV. Despite all these versions sharing a common design, they still have their own distinct futuristic styling.

One of the most noticeable design elements of the all-new Kona is what Hyundai calls the “Seamless Horizon Lamp” which stretches across the width of the front end. The EV version comes with a pixelated  Seamless Horizon Lamp making it the first Hyundai model ever to use this futuristic design.

According to the press release by Hyundai, here are the major differences between each powertrain variants:

The EV gets pixel graphic details on the intake grille and rear bumper, a pixel-inspired 19-inch alloy wheel design, black embracing line and optional black side mirrors and roof. The ICE and HEV share a bold and rugged bumper and skid plate design, and black wheel arch cladding. The N Line boasts optional black side mirrors and roof, wing-type spoiler, more aggressive front and rear designs with wing-shaped bumper to emphasize a lower stance, distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels, twin muffler and silver side skirt.

Interior Design

The all-new Kona will offer more interior space than its previous versions giving drivers and passengers more comfort. The Kona will also come with dual wide 12.3-inch displays and interior ambient lighting that enhances the driving experience for everyone inside the cabin.

The Kona column type shift-by-wire will now be relocated from the center consoled to behind the steering wheel giving the Kona an uncluttered layout and additional space for belongings in the central tunnel.

Lastly, the second row of the Kona will now come with a Curve-less Bench Seat which provides more comfort, usability, and convenience.

When Will the All-New Kona Be Available To Purchase?
