  • The SEL Plus and Limited come with the Smartstream 1.6L turbocharged engine producing 180 horsepower and 195 ft. lbs. of torque.

 

  • Finally, the Sonata N Line comes with that Smartstream 2.5L turbo-charged engine producing 290 horsepower and 311 ft. lbs. of torque!

 

Except for the N Line which uses an 8-speed N Wet Dual-Clutch transmission, the rest of the trim levels use a Smartstream 8-speed electronic automatic with SHIFTRONIC®, Shift-by-Wire (SBW), and overdrive lock-up torque converter. The Sonata also comes standard with an electronic shift button that uses the shift-by-wire technology, offering smoother gear changes and better fuel economy on the highway.

Speaking of fuel efficiency, the Sonata can get up to 38 mpg on the highway and up to 28 mpg in the city. This ranks super competitively among its class. The Sonata is able to achieve these numbers due to its improved aerodynamics giving it better fuel efficiency.
