In recent years, the fuel economy and design of Hyundai models like the Sonata and Elantra have managed to capture the hearts and minds of even the toughest car-buyers and critics. And this year, the 2012 Hyundai Sonata and 2012 Hyundai Elantra are no different. However, the South Korean automaker's appeal isn't limited to it's automotive vertical. Rather, two companies at the forefront of the tech industry have decided to partner with Hyundai in order to develop a new in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system: Intel and C&S Technologies, Inc.
Both Intel and C&S Technologies will play very specific roles in the development of the new IVI system. Intel will be tasked with creating the system's running platform, as well as developing the apps drivers will use to interact with the system, while C&S Technologies will work to ensure the proper integration of the new system into Hyundai's vehicle lineup.
Speaking on the specific role that each company will play, Hyundai Vice-Chairman, Yang Woong-Chul said, "The MOU aims to fuel growth of next generation IT products for vehicles that can meet growing consumer requirements for both driving related information and entertainment content."2 Woong-Chul continued, saying, "The demand for smart cars is on the rise in Korea - a powerful IT country. Hyundai will develop in-vehicle infotainment systems that incorporate changes in digital lifestyles and maximize customer convenience in cooperation with Intel and C&S Technology."1
At the moment, Hyundai has not released a timeframe for when the new IVI system will be offered in their lineup. But, if you'd rather forgo the wait for a new in-vehicle infotainment system, then feel free to consider the new Hyundai models that Walser Hyundai offers at 8100 Lakeland Avenue North in Brooklyn Park, MN.
